How can I rent a studio apartment in Chicago, IL with a 12-month lease if I have poor credit (526-576 score)?
Answer:
try to rent from owner , not from management company and expect to pay bigger deposit.
To be honest, there are not that many studio apartments left in Chi Town (there are some, of course), and with bad credit you may have a problem. My guess is that the landlord will want a security deposit (as usual) and perhaps three to four months rent up front.
I have rented several in that area over the last few years with no problems. They will generally overlook your scores as long as you have no previous lates/evictions/etc to other apartments. If you do owe money to other complexes or have previous evictions you will be better off trying to rent a house instead as they rarely check credit.
Widen your area. Can't be done downtown or north but check out west or south where downtown can be reached in 15 minutes.
