If you're gonna foot an $1800/mo rent bill for just you you should strongly consider qualifying to purchase your own place! If you're just not ready for homeownership, then maybe take the time to pick you out your next rental location where YOUR name is on the lease and that will build a rental history for yourself, if nothing else!
One is rarely wrong in purchasing a home, so long as it isn't more house than they can afford.
Or, move to a smaller place just for yourself.
