I'm trying to find info on Missouri housing to see if it's legal the amount our realtor went up in rent.

My landlord raised our rent $100 before our lease was up. Is this legal? Can she legally do that especially if it was mid-lease?

Answer:
There is no stipulations for rent increases unless the development received a government subsidy for building/rehab work. If that is the case, rents will be strictly controlled.

For most questions about landlord-tenant relationships, the Missouri Attorney General's office has published a booklet that reviews different areas.

If you live in low-income housing or receive a rental subsidy, your rent cannot be changed without permission of the compliance authority. E-mail information@mhdc.com or call 866.605.7467 if this is the case.
As a resident of Missouri, and a renter, there is no law that says your lease can't change. At any given time and without notice, your rent amount can increase. Unless your lease agreement says you are in a locked amount, they can raise it to whatever suits them.
