Can i sell a previous owners personal property that was left in the house i just bought?
Answers:
talk to your realtor. the previos owners have a time limit to gather their belongings. i think its 30 days. after that its up for grabs! at least its what i was told when i bought my house. i had the same problem.
i also had a really nice rummage sale!
Was there any agreement or discussion on how long it would take the previous owner to remove their belongings?
Have you even contacted them? Usually, when something like this happens, there is an agreement up front that they are "renting" the space until they remove it.
If you can't contact them and you have closed on the house, technically, the house is yours and everything in it as well.
As a practical matter, could you move it to the garage?
Hope that helps
last house I bought i gave the guy 30 days to get his "chickens" out..
he was coming around for weeks..saying he was the "owner"
to the workers......
i had to enforce it..
that i was the new owner..and he wasn't welcome..
so , if you do not have it in writing.it is yours...
but what if it is "stolen property"..you sell it and the "serial numbers" come back to you?
make certain you have something in writing..
go to the "realtor"....and get something in writing..especially since you want to sell this stuff...i would be worried that it was "stolen goods"..
they didnt get it out before closing? its not theres any more.
