Answers:
Visit the Nehemiah Corp as they have a downpayment assistance program for qualified lenders http://www.getdownpayment.com/ -- they will not pay for the full price of the house nor support you in your mortgage payments, but they can give you downpayment assistance if you qualify for the low cost housing loans given by the government

The Housing and Urban Development in their Grants Available page makes it clear that they do not provide grants to individuals -- hence no grants for a person to buy a home http://www.hud.gov/grants/index.cfm...

"While HUD does not offer direct grants or loans to individuals, we do work through local governments and non-profit organizations to make financial assistance and counseling available."

Get another lender and ask your local HUD office where you can get low cost loans that would fit your circumstances. Unless you go for programs such as Habitat for Humanity or even the 1-dollar program of the government where they have specific houses to give, then it will be hard to get you a full grant
