A good place to live in North Carolina?

My husband and I are thinking of relocating to North Carolina by next fall. Ive only been to the Raleigh area once, but know that we both would like to make the big move, considering where we live now is getting bad. (no jobs and crime rate through the roof)..We are looking for a low crime area, where we can get a home for $150,000-200,000 if thats possible. Thanks for any input.

Answer:
You did not include enough information to assist you (like type of jobs market, the importance of the school system, the distance from job, etc.).

Honestly with that price range of $150 - $200 K there are tons of possibilities you can live comfortably in ANY PART of the state! For the most part crime is not an issue outside the urban areas and that is ONLY in certain parts! (Generally not in the Area where you spend $150 K!).

Email me and let me know what you characteristic you are looking and there importance and I will get you some information about a good area.

ANOTHER BONUS THERE ARE SOME OUTSTANDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE STATE!

I recommend any city in this state, you let me know a region and I will find you suitable neighborhood.
I live near Charlotte and it has pros and cons. The pro would have to be jobs, entertainment such as football games, basketball games, Carowinds. an amusement park, etc. The climate is nice since in the winter it's cold and summers are hot. There are lots of clubs and organizations to join or volunteer for. There are plenty of houses around here that are in your price range. The cons would have to be traffic and the population. Now like I said I live "near" Charlotte not in Charlotte. I say that because the crime rate in Charlotte is not so pretty but the further you are from Charlotte it goes down. I live about 45 min. from Charlotte in a nice neighborhood, that's pretty quiet. If you want you can email me and I'll tell you more.
Raleigh suburbs would be a good choice. Look at the towns that are northwest, or southeast.

Hickory is nice. Asheville is very nice, but housing there costs more than I thought it would.
I am familiar with New Bern, Havelock, and Jacksonville. Jacksonville is the largest, and would probably have the most crime. You can find reasonable housing. These are near military bases, and I think that will be you will find average salaries. I hope this helps.
