Oh, my lord, YES! If there is a fire in your apartment or house that you are renting, you would lose everything. And that apartment or home owners and their insurance agencies are NOT responsible for the loss of your (tenets) belongings. They are only responsible for the loss of their possessions and structures. It might cost you anywhere between $20-50/month, but just like having car insurance, it is worth the money. Just think about this, would you like to start over from scratch after you have collected and bought what you have now?
Start looking in the phone book for insurance agencies in your area and start getting quotes. Make sure if you do get it, get a policy that has FULL REPLACEMENT values. That will cost a little more, but think about this, if you own a TV that is a Sony 32" flat screen and you owned it for a year and the purchase price was $500, if you don't have full replacement, the insurance co. will probably only give you $300. Full replacement, they would give you what it would cost to make you 100% before the loss. Just a thought. Good luck with you decision and hunt.
It is absolutely a good idea to carry renter's ins. A landlord is not liable for damage to any of your belongings unless it is due to their negligence. It is very important to maintain your insurance.

I need to take my own advise when I say it's the best idea. It will protect your stuff both in and outside of the house. I had my truck stolen and a bracelet stolen out of it. Had I had renters insurance it would have covered the loss of the bracelet
ohhhh yah!!! without it your screwed if something should go wrong
yup. it's better 2 b safe than sorry. in my area renter's insurance start about 50 bucks a month
