I know the feeling, and it's not pleasant! Well, you know it's charged when the light turns from orange to green. That's when it's fully charged.
The more you fiddle with it, i.e flick back and forth with the buttons, the quicker it'll drain. A fully charged pod should last a good 2 days at least. But make sure you have a USB socket somewhere on the trip. Of course you didn't say how long the trip was for, but you get an idea I hope. Enjoy!
