I really like www.zillow.com for close estimations of property values. It's free, easy and the best part is you don't end up as a sales lead. If you really need true market value you'll need to hire an appraiser.
1. Contact a local Realtor and ask them for a market assessment. (Make them think you want to sell your house with them, but don't sign a contract.)
2. Go to zillow.com and look at what houses similar to yours in your area have recently sold for.
www.zillow.com is a good website to get an idea as to how much your home might be worth. Another way is to look at like property on Realtor.com.
