Barclays Bank, are they any good?.?

Ok, a weird question.
I'm currently with the Woolwich Building Society ( been with them for too many years to remember - a long time ), but they were bought by Barclays in 2000 and now my branch is being closed and they have been kind enough to inform me that on or about the 24th of next month my account is now going to be transfered over to my local Barclays bank.
After doing a quick search on the web i've noticed that there are varied opinions concerning Barclays, mostly negative.
So my question to you all is.
If you were in my position, would you:-
A :- Go with the flow and accept the transfer and hope for the best.
Or
B:- Switch banks before the 24th.
All answers gratefully received ( Apart from those from Barclays rep's ).
Cheers.

Key points/thoughts:

Barclay's has been pretty darn successful lately...and from a "distanced view" of the company...seems pretty darn smart.

On the other hand,...anytime a company is growing, there will be disgruntled people left in the wake (i.e. Merrill Lynch kicked the majority of their investors with less than 100k to a #800 call center and stopped paying brokers on commissions earned with those clients).

Naturally, people with negative comments will always be the most abundent on the web...people who are happy don't pro-actively comment...or just don't comment... majority of the time. people with a gripe... tell everyone they know and anyone that will listen.

Personally, I'd stick with the Barclay's for now..till you find some negatives that motivate you to move.or some positives that say "hey, glad I stayed"...afterall they were smart enough to buy your "woolwich" company.
Absolutely not
I was with barclays for years and the service got worse and I eventually switched to an internet bank and haven't regretted it for one minute. Get out while you can.
its a bank ... its no good
I would switch immediately.

I don't like that bank. I had to go and pay off a bill, and the attitude of the staff was very aloof.

I also haven't forgiven them for their investment in South Africa during the apartheid years, either.

Note that the Co-Operative bank have an ethical policy.
If you are not sure, you need to ask them about any charges etc and compare it with other bank. I have a CC with them and the customer service is by far the best.
Go with Lloyds. They're much better.
Why not give them a chance? I know others won't agree, but I have been banking with them for 40 years; not had one single problem, and my account is very active. Maybe it differs from branch to branch..
Historically no. I'm currently in the same boat as you but I was with them before they took over Woolich. They are no good. Very bad customer service and they'll fleece you if you don't watch them carefully.
Why did I join them and why don't I get out now? I would if I could but I can't!
