A direct deposit question?

here at work they announced the Direct Deposit might not go in, half the staff at the meeting whined and said they already wrote checks for bills that Tuesday before pay day, they asked the employer to pay for any bounced check fees, isnt floating checks illegal? i asked that question and people got mad, what are your thoughts from around the US, i am in TEX

Answer:
Postdating checks is illegal, however I do not know that there are laws against writing checks in anticipation of deposits. I do know that intent matters. It is fradulent to write checks that you know will bounce.
In practical terms if you have acceptable funds on deposit with your bank when the check is presented, they will honor it. What is illegal is "check kiting" where you are depositing and writing checks against the same non-existent funds.
you shouldn't write checks for money you don't have. post dating checks is illegal in most states.
I laugh at this ! It truly cracks me up !

This was also in the news when Walmart would now immediately withdraw through electronic means, checks you just wrote out to purchase something. People were whining that they didnt have the money. Well I say keep your sorry A$$E$ at home then and don't shop till have the money! GOOD GAWD people YES its THAT simple !

If you don't have the money, then you don't leave the house! If the way you handle your money is NOT working then make a change as only YOU can!

aaaaaaaaaaaah life is good when you save save save !!
