How can I cash a US money order & also a US cashier´s check in Canada?
If so, would I be asked to pay any extra fees to my local Canadian bank?
Btw, these are less than $50 each.
Thanks.
Answer:
As far as I know, at least at Royal Bank in Canada, you can cash a U.S. money order at any Royal Bank branch. As far as I know, you CAN'T cash a US cashier's check in Canada. You do have to have a Canadian or U.S. account at Royal Bank in Canada, otherwisde they will not do it. So the best solution is to get 2 U.S. money orders. The way they set up most beginner accounts at Royal Bank, is you can take out up to $100.00 right away on the beginner accounts, so the best thing to do would be to make 2 seperate deposits on 2 different days, because they hold anything over $100.00 deposited per day. If you already have an account with Royal Bank, the amount they release to you right away is much higher for a lot of accounts, with the range of release from 250.00 to 1,000.00 per day. Phone Royal Bank's customer service line at 1-800-769-2511, they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that number covers Canada and the United States, and find out what your imediate release is, if you already have an account. If they happen to give you an account with no release of funds right away, you will have to wait around 15 business days for the U.S. money order to clear. It is advisable to go to any Royal Bank Branch to cash the U.S. money orders, as the bank machines at Royal Bank are very computerized. Their entire transaction processing for bank machines is very computerized, which can increase the risk of problems with U.S. items. You would be charged around $1.00 for cashing a U.S. money order.
money order can be transfer into cash from post office
and chashier's check from bank
Take them to any bank where you have an account and deposit them and then when the funds clear they will let you make a withdrawal . Easy , simple , and clean .
