I don't have that. Consumerism is at an all time high, everyone is into appearance and instant gratification and what's going on is case of "You can't have your cake and at it too." with the exception of the wealthy most of us can't afford to save and buy the latest of EVERYTHING but people do it anyway. Eventually people are going to have to pay the piper. Americans have a negative savings rate in a time where pensions are obsolete and social security will be so there is a long term issue of what are we going to do with all these broke spendthrift senior citizens.
Yes and when the greedy get though with us we will be in big trouble,with a capital "T". Bill Gates recently stated that if we did not get our students properly educated the USA,could wind up being a third world country in the very near future.Think about,Iran,placing a nuclear backed blockade in the middle of the ocean and keeping us from getting any oil shipments.This is why Japan attacked Pearl Harbor.And yes it could happen in our lifetime.What you going to do?the first is to be more active in the affairs of your local government,especially during the election process.Find out who is qualified to lead us though the trying times.Then support them and help them get elected.teach the young people,help them understand what is going on,instead of telling them where they can get the best price on car parts.They don't know any better.And most of all pray for peace,this war will never get us anywhere.We need to pull in our borders and re-build America and renew our resources instead of policing the world.If a country wants our help then they should ask the UN,and not expect us to spend all our blood,sweat,and money to help them without something in return.PEACE!!
Good question. Sure, if you look at the average income by dividing the total amount made by all by the number of citizens then we are number one. But, if you look at the income and lifestyle of the average citizen we lag behind much of Northern Europe who's countries often have economies that are minuscule to ours. As for saving, well, you can't save what you don't have. How can you ask a single mother working at Alsups to save? :) As for all that crap you listed that we are supposedly buying, I don't have any except a stereo and that was a Christmas present.
YOU HAVE YOUR TERMINOLOGY WRONG . FEWER THAN 40% HAVE A NET WORTH OF $50,000.00 IS MORE LIKE IT . AS FAR AS SAVINGS GO I WOULD SAY 80% OF THE PEIOPLE DO NOT HAVE 50,000.00 DOLLARS SAVED THAT IS FREE AND CLEAR .

Americans aren't poor, they are illiterate and don't understand basic English. If "fewer than 40% have less than $50,000 in savings" I would conclude they are doing pretty well, financially.
