Abbey national help?

I have my current account with abbey national. They charged me £50 for going 67p over drawn and they didnt tell me that they were going to do this. So then i went £50 overdrawn for the charges and now they are charging me another £50. Apparentley it is illegal to charge that much and they have been sued. Does anyone know anything? Should i change banks or will it be the same?

Answer:
I have just found a great web site that knows all about bank charges and can help you claim any back over the past 6 years. They have letter templates etc and Abbey have already given me £200 back since I have been taking advice from this site.

Write a letter. Abbey are quite good at reversing "automated" charges. Nationwide are even better! I got £30 charged when my company paid my salary into my ex husbands bank account, and it made me overdrawn. My Company wrote a letter and Nationwide credited my account with £96.05p?
RESULT!
i work for a bank and if this is the first time you have gone o/d then its appalling however look in your terms and conditions to see what they say about charging. Look around at other banks, the one i work for would not act in this way based on what you have said here
Phone them and complain, and apologise, if this is the first time its happened they may reverse some of the charges for you, they have done to me in the past.
