See if you want your benefits to be paid into your account - like Job seekers which is good?
post office card account
the thing is , if I chose a bank current for the benefit and paid some extra cash into that account, which you cant do for a post office account , will they say anything like where your getting the money from
thats why which is good bank account
or post office
Answer:
All they know is the details of your account. They cant see what is in it, or what else you pay into that account.
bank account is better but not sure if you need a reference or a salary paid in .doubtful that anyone would check if u had extra cash paid in as there not interested unless you have 1000's in savings
the bank won`t ask where you got the cash from. the social do checks and ask for bank account details! they will want you to account for every last penny. i`m in same position it`s a nightmare.
You can have up to about £3000 savings so I don't think they will question a little extra cash in your bank account and also, they don't have access to your bank account info, no-one does so I say bank account because you have better access to it and it's much easier than PO accounts.
Well - To be honest - if they checked, they could look into any account you had. To be safe - have one for benefits & another for any "other" payments you may have. Bare in mind that any accounts you have, will be listed in your credit record - Along with current ballances.. Under the bed perhaps? ;) grin
Have fun!
Post Office , then if you have already got money in a bank account, the DSS need not know about it. Logic !!
the bank won't ask you where you got the cash from in case they alert you to the fact that they are suspicious. but they will still report you if it is lots of money and they know you are supposed to be on jobseekers. they will ask you when you open the account if you work and how much you will be expecting to have paid in every week and will notice if the transactions vary widely from what you said. they are not being nosy.. they are required to do this under anti money laundering legislation. the post office is bound by the exact same laws so don't do it!!
