Hughes Aircraft Co. lawsuit regarding Hughes stopping payments into the pension plan after being bought out by General Motors Corporation in 1987, is often cited in case law. Even went to the US Supreme Court regarding the pension fund surpluses (why Hughes stopped paying in).

But there was another sale from Hughes Aircraft Co. to Alliant Techsystems, Inc. in 1996/1997, and the transferred employees also had their pensions transferred.

But based on the timeline found in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/hughes_airc. , it appears that the remains of Hughes Aircraft was incorporated into Raytheon in 1997.
