I need someone to talk to me about getting my finances together before/during/after divorce. Someone in TX.?
Answer:
If you hide money and the other person "finds" out about it, you lose 90% of that money,
If you run your joint credit cards up to the hilt on "stuff", you'll get to keep your stuff and he'll have to pay half the bill (probably).
Are you looking to cheat your spouse out of money, or preserve what's there.
You should know where every last asset is and what it's valued at - find any hidden accounts now - take your name off of any account of your parents / relatives so that it's not included as part of the assets to be divided.
I'm in the DFW area. Divorced Spring 2004. Let me know if I can help. Contact me thru yahoo.
As a divorced couple in Texas, I learned from my divorce, all property aquired during the marriage is separated legally or mutually if you agree to a dissolution. For instance, if you had a sofa before you married it is separate property and it goes to you, if you aquired it while you were married then you both can agree who gets what (dissolution agreement) or let the judge decide(contested divorce) what and who it goes too. We chose a dissolution and it somewhat worked out well except for alot of personal items I didn't list on our agreement (came to me later what I had lost) which she lost or burnt? I know the more value you've attained while married is alot more trouble when you get divorced.lucky we were'nt rich!! Good luck!
