How can I cut down on mistakes in a small sikscreen shop?

Have a slightly blind and def lead printer who has been at it for 8 years. As print manager how do I tell Him how to do his job without upsetting him, I keep getting, I know from him, but He just won't follow though. I feel some times he using the loss of hearing as a crutch to manipulate and pity and make it seem, as he should have to do the same work as the rest of the shop.

Answer:
If this guy has been getting away with substandard work for a period of time, you will have problems now correcting the situation.

Write down what your expectations are in a memo, and distribute to all workers. Then you are not picking on him. I'm assuming he can read. If his work is below the standard stated and required, you can then take remedial action, but you have got to operate fairly across the whole workforce. You have to make allowances for different abilities and disabilities, but you also need work of a consistent and acceptable standard.

If the situation does not improve, you will have to escalate the situation. Other Questions and Answers:
