Am I as an only surviving child responsible for any balances owed at my father's nursing home after his death

There was no estate and he passed away with no assets

Answer:
His estate is responsible. Unless you signed as guarantor for the bills, you have no liability.
I think the nursing home is screwed. Why should you have to pay for anything?
If what you posted is true,no one is responsible for his debts.
If he has a will that leaves an estate, creditors can file lien against the estate.
A BIG NOPE !!
You are not responisible for the debt. Either the nursing home will use it as a write off, or the state will pay (as in medicaid)
