Bank of America won't cancel your credit card. Bank of America is a tier 1 lender, therefore it looks good on your credit report, that in itself along with how you've been handling your credit will boost your score.
hhmmm.I assume you did not file chapter 7, eh? Not my business.anywho.my score is lower than that, and I was less than a year from my chapter 7 and Capital One gave me a nice card with ok interest (better than I had BEFORE the bankruptcy with other banks) and no yearly fee..but a small limit. I doubt with your credit history with this company that they'd decline your renewal.
I think of the 3 bureaus my highest might have been 631?? Give them a shot. You might be surprised!
It sounds like this is a good account with Bank of America, very doubtful they wouldn't renew it. Besides after you declare Chapter 7, you can't do so again for at least 6 years so they know you are a good risk (the 6 years rule may have changed with the new bankruptcy laws that went into effect last October). Also if you maintain this account in good standing it will look good on your credit report. I had to declare chapter 7 about 13 years ago, and the cool thing is, I kept one card, rarely used it (I use my debit card now and don't buy anything on credit) and after 10 years, when the bankruptcy dropped off, my credit file looks beautiful. If for some reason, they decide to raise your interest rate (credit card companies can basically do what they want--ironically there are loan sharks in jail today for charging rates that are legal now! LOL ) close it and you will very shortly be getting offers in the mail anyway. Hope this helps :)
