How do I ask parents for loan?

I'm 13. I earned (over the summer) $150 from mowing lawns/washing cars around the neighborhood. I want an mp3 player that is around $170 (SanDisk Sansa e260) How do i go about asking for the money? I'm definitely not part of a rich family, more middle-class. Or should I wait until Christmas? I am fairly shy, you could say. Thanks in advance!

Answer:
You seriously only need $20 more and you want your parent to cough it up for you? Try working a little more and earning the rest yourself. I don't consider MP3 players a necessity, so if you really want it earn it.
They will consider it a gift, knowing you will never pay them back, can they afford it ? Pretty weak effort over the summer ! Are you telling me you made $150 all Summer ? Your parents may think you are brain dead ! You should be able to make that much in a day !
Give them the 150 bucks, and tell them you want to help out. Then ask for it at Xmas. If you don't get it, they really needed the money or they're * holes.Either way, you win in the long run.
Explain to them why you need the loan, your thoughts on the loan terms (when you can pay back, how much to pay) and give them some type of collateral that is worth something special to you.
Just ask plain pure and simple tell them the truth thats all you can do.
Tell your parents that you want the MP3 and that you have the 135 dollars and would like if they could pay the difference and tell them that you will help with the laundry, and other extra chores around the house.
straight out with the question, there your parents for godsakes, cant be that hard to ask,all they can do is say no. Go For It!
just have a talk w/ them over dinner.. and say. mom.. dad.. i made this much over the summer.. and i want an mp3 player.. i need a lil more.. could u help me out?..

they have to say yes cause u work n deserve it.. just do it.

or better yet.. ask if they will go halfers on an ipod.. those are the best ones out in the market.. you get more space to put more music for your buck.
