What do you consider a good yearly salary? How about a poor years wages?

From what I hear, a GOOD yearly salary is $70,000 and over.
Anything lower is in the not bad to OK range. Anything lower
than $35,000 would be in the living at home with parents or,
if married, eating out once a month stage. Anything lowe
than $25,000 would be de facto poverty.
How do people survive on Wal-Mart type jobs? Do we now live
in, for all intents and purposes, a third world country, where
a lawyer making 500K gets served by a fast-food employee
just one step away from the eating left over goodies from the dumpster stage?
Again, what do you consider a good yearly salay?

Answer:
A good salary is the one that doesn't keep you up at night wishing you had more of it!
It depends on where you live. Cost of living varies widely, as do average salaries to reflect that.
As long as it pays the bills and leaves a little fun money left over, then you're good.
A good yearly salary is one where you aren't always whining because you don't have enough money to do all those things you and your family want to do! :~)

I think in reality for today's world, in the city I live in, to be middle class and splurging and enjoying life (and if you have kids!) you need to both make about $100,000 apiece.

But in reality, we only make about $70 combined.I stay home and work part time to help with bills.if you can do without all the fancy designer names and labels and enjoy the simple things in life, most which are free, and have a lot of friends to hang and party with.then life can be good even at that salary, which to me falls into the upper poverty class in today's world.but it's worth the sacrifice to me because I am with my kids, our home is paid for long ago, and we just need to make the bills.but life could certainly be a lot better if we doubled that income and everyone got all toys, bells and whistles they longed for..but then we wouldn't be as close and tight as we are now..college years are coming up soon so may have to reconsider it all.will face that hurdle when it gets here! :~)
A good salary is one that meets all of your needs and at least a few of your wants. And what dollar amount it takes to do that depends enormously on where you live and how you choose to live. I had a high school teacher In Los Angeles who not only survived on a single teacher's salary (i.e. not much) but traveled the world on it.

You're right about the middle class disappearing. More and more people are slipping into the ranks of the working poor as wages aren't keeping up with the cost of living and benefits are being decreased. It's sad how many hard working people can't find a job that has medical benefits.
