Can I deposit money orders through the deposit box?
Answers:
Yes, you can make deposits, you will need your ATM card, and the bank's deposit envelope and deposit ticket filled in with your information.
Remember to sign the money order on the back with your account information, and keep your deposit ticket from the machine as proof. You can then also ask for an updated balance, as they will usually credit you $100 for an after hours deposit. If you need the money right away, you need to go to the teller.
Every bank is different, although Washington Mutual is a nice bank. Call the account information center, transfer to customer service, and get their rules and regulations about deposits.
Most deposits are made at the ATM, and not at the "night deposit" boxes for which you need keys. There is a deposit slot at the ATM, and you enter your information, click "Deposit" and the amount in the envelope. The envelope includes the endorsed money order with your account information on the deposit ticket, sometimes they require a check box on the outside as to which acct it is going into chking, svings, etc. The machine goes beep, beep, and quickly insert the envelope following the arrows prominently displayed on the deposit envelope, and you've got it.
Remember to wait for your depost ticket receipt, and your Washington Mutual ATM bankcard.
Just fill out a deposit slip from the back of your checkbook or a blank one provided at the bank, put it into an envelope (again, provided at the bank or use your own), and drop into the depository.
I assume you mean the night deposit. and, yes you can make deposits there. fill out the slip and put it with the check or cash in an envelope and drop in the box. they will process the NEXT business day at most banks, unless you drop it before opening time. If you mean a safe deposit box, then...no don't put deposits in there. that would be reeeeelllly bad.
Yes...put them in an envelope (usually provided) and write your name and account number on the envelope. Night Drops are very safe. They usually drop far down and there are security measures in place that would prevent even the most nimble crook from getting into the box!
Please be advised many banks put an automatic hold on checks deposited into a night deposit box or an ATM so if you cannot handel the hold (depending on the dollar amount anywhere from 24 hours to 5 days) then you should skip the box and go to a teller (you are still not guaranteed that they won't put a hold on them though). The bank's policy is usually printed on the envelope or posted near the box.
On the back of your money order, there is an area that says "Endorse" sign your name and put your acc# under your signature. Just like you would a check!
Remember to sign it! Or it may not make it in your account!!
