What period of time does one have to deposit a check written one year ago?
Answers:
I am afraid you are out of luck. If it is a business or personal check you have 6 months. If it is a cashiers check it is always good. You can always try and see if the teller will put it through. You can call the person and see if they will issue you another one. Good Luck!!
I think the limit is 60 days...I've had this happen. If it's older the bank may not honor it. If you try to cash it you may get charged a fee. Look on the check & see if it says the number of days you have to cash it.
I pretty sure it is 90 days but do not quote me,I think that if it not cashed in 60 to 90 days it is void!
check for the date on check.
I would check on this. I think most places will only accept checks up to six months from the date. Call the bank it was written on and ask their policy and check also with your bank before doing anything.
If the check does not have an expiration date on it, then the stale date of a check is 6 months. You cannot cash it after that.
You can deposit it anytime, but the bank has the right to refuse to pay it.
