Counterfeit$,cashed my Ch 1 bank deposit$ @ my bank, they deduct 100 frm me cuz fake bill. MY OPTIONS&RIGHTS?

About 2 weeks ago i cashed my paycheck @ the bank(Bank Atlantic) next to my office(where it is drawn from). The next day i took the $ (that never left the envelope from original bank) & deposited the cash into my account @ my bank( Bank Of America) a few days later i received a notice from BOA stating that my account(deposit) had been deducted $100 due to the fact that one of the $100 bills had been counterfeit. They would not return the bill so that i could @least have the option to go back to where i had received the bill to find out if they had maybe received some other $100 bills like it & maybe could have worked w/ me. BOA advised me that it is my problem, not theirs! As did original bank where i received it! SO, i guess my actual ?'s would be, "has this happened to u?", "what did u do?" & "does anyone know what my options or rights may be?" . I am open to any ideas, suggestions or maybe even a website i could look into this issue further.
"Thanks"

Answer:
Of course the bank wasn't going to give you back the bill or "work with you". Thats not their responsibility.

The Secret Service handles counterfeit money. Demand a copy of the Counterfeit Note Report SS 1604 from your bank. File a report with the Secret Service naming the bank where you were passed the note.

I would file a complaint against Bank Atlantic in the hopes that they refund your money. Their teller should have caught the funny money before it was passed on to you.
Call the police and ask for advice.
Call the police and ask for advise .

Buy a marker that will tell you which bills are counterfits . Do it in front of the teller at the Bank Atlantic the next time you cash your paycheck (do this every time you cash your paycheck - to embarass them!) If the teller says why are you doing this ?? Explain it to them that you got ripped off 100 bucks the last time and you don't apprecicate that you lost 100 dollars, your hard earned $ . See if they will refund 100 dollars!
Your transaction was already processed and deposited. The bank is in the wrong, they can't take money from your account "after" they find out it's fake. If they didn't notice it when you took it in for a deposit it is officially their problem and not yours. You won't get the fake bill back because it's phony and has to be turned over to the authorities. Take it from someone who knows, I worked at a bank as a teller. Another thing how did they know it was you money that was phoney especially if it took them a few days. They have no way of knowing that, all of that money is put together that day and there's absolutely noway, NO WAY they could know it was from you. I think you should dispute that big time. If they didn't catch it at the time of the deposit, like I said oh well. Just like you didn't know it was phoney when you get it from the other bank, they pulled one on you, but I'd definately fight it.

GOOD LUCK!
