My mom made a deposit to the wrong account, can she still recover the money?

When you say wrong account, do you mean like a total stranger's account? If that is the case, then yes, she should be able to recover the funds. Even if she doesn't have the receipt (which is definitely helpful,) the bank should be able to tell that it went into the wrong account. Most of the time, they even correct the error themselves. Sometimes it may take awhile, but they do.

She should bring her proof of deposit to the bank and request transaction be reversed.
How exactly did she do that? The bank can contact the owner of the other account and ask them if the money was added by mistake and if they say yes then possibly she can...but if the other account holder says it's his money she may not have any legal recourse.
