Does joining costco make economic sense?
Answers:
It depends on your family's consumption, number of family members and types of products you wish to purchase.
If you have a baby, Costco makes sense because diapers are much cheaper as well as baby formula.
If you are a family of 8, Costco's LARGE mustard and other condiments would be perfect for you; or even their potato chips and most of their food products
However if you are a family of 2 or even a family of picky or moderate eaters, it will take years before you can finish their mustard and many of their food items are likely to go to waste.
But for non food items such as books, soaps, laundry detergent, even appliances -- Costco's prices are excellent and can save you a lot.
I have babies and kids so Costco's Executive Membership works well for me -- I always get reimbursed for the $100 membership fee I pay because of the 2% cashback I get everytime I shop at Costco.
However, my main beef with Costco is I can never shop there without spending upwards of $250 and up because they just have so many various items and adhering strictly to your shopping list is tough
It all depends on how much you plan on shopping there during the year.
Costco DOES have good prices but if you are not going to shop there almost every week, you will not get the price of the annual membership back.
if you know you are going to shop there often (because there is a yearly fee) and if you have the space to store bulk items, it then yes definitely. It is a lot cheaper and you will also go shopping less often.
