40K good paying job in the US any more?

in a normal US large city, town or small town would this be considerd a good pay amount any more? would you be considerd poor, middle or rich class (ok i am sure its not rich)

i ask because i am told thats what FBI agents start out at.

Answer:
It would be a reasonable starting salary but you wouldn't have anything extra in the city. If you lived in a small rural community, this would be a very good wage.
40k wont get you very far on the west coast!
It depends where in the country you are.

In Alabama, you'll be eating steak and baked potatoes ok $40k

In New York City, you'll be sharing a 1 room flat and eating macaroni and cheese.
Thats not good at all. FBI should make alot more then that. At max thet would be middle. I make 50-75k a year and have little College.
Depends on definition of "large city" .if we're talking someplace like NYC then no, the pay sucks. A smaller city in a different area that's probably considered fair pay. In small towns that may be considered a lot.

Eh, if a position for that was offered, I'd say take it.
in Mississippi after K this would be good upper mid class
it's a pretty decent salary for a new hire w/ little or no exp. especially if you have a decent benefit package as well.
It depends what state you are from. You should be making more than that unless you from like mid USA or something. A cop in Cali starts at 55-65 k a year.
