What are the pre requisites to start an investment firm?

I am planning to start up a firm...for which many of my friends are ready to give me some money which I'll invest on my strategy. By the end of the year or after some time they get whatever we first planned of(including 10%,15% profit etc, irrespective of what I make).
Do I need to complete some courses before I start the company. One of my relatives was saying that I need some sort of certification. Can some body guide me to what I need to do now. Please point me to some good websites that provide better understanding of the situation. I searched for some data regarding it but of no use! :(

These tests are a pain too. Nothing complicated but a whole ton of memorization like studying for the bar exam. You can pick up the materials for a couple-few hundred on Ebay or maybe locally.

I was gonna start a firm a few years back because I was making hand over fist profits during the recession but these arriers made it a huge hassle.

Good Luck
