As llamalad…told you can buy some good stock hold it till it gives you 500 or 1000 dollars, then keep the activity without loosing your original investment.
Also, if you are able to spare time and do things, I would suggest having some ebay activity, ebay is one of the good place to start some retail activity with some little investment. You will have to choose what you want to buy/sell though, and you will also have to be careful with what you pay for it. Once things are done properly and you are lucky enough to identify some good demanding items for some good price, you are good to go.

Find a stock that is medium to high risk. Once it goes up a good amount, sell it. Say you sold it for $1500. You made a $500 profit. Then buy $1000 worth of another stock. Sell it when it makes a good amount of money. Just keep buying $1000 worth and keep the profit, not risking that part.
