What is a decent return on a 401K account nowadays??

Answer:
There is no specific answer possible. Virtually every 401(k) program offers a variety of investment options, including domestic stocks, foreign stocks, bonds, money market funds, company stock, etc. - and combinations of those options (i.e., 50% of one, 20% of another, l5% of a third, 15% of a fourth). But whatever the makeup of the 401(k), it should certainly exceed the return on a CD to be termed "decent."
Long term stock market average is 8% but no sure thing yr to yr. Better this yr but who knows. Just stay away from annuities & banks.
