How do I get my P&C Insurance License (NY)?
I've been working in an Insurance Agency for almost 4 years. I heard that if I work in an agency more than six months, I do not have to take the pre-licensing course prior taking the State Exam. Is this true? If so, what kind of forms do I need to fill out in order to take the State Exam?
FYI: I am a NY resident and wanting to get my NY license.
Your help is greatly appreciated,
Thank You.

There's the state website with the info. You can ALWAYS call them and ask them directly, however, it LOOKS from the website that you NEED the prelicensing course paperwork in order to take the state exam.
Everything you need to know is there.
You could ALSO check with someone you work with, although the licensing laws HAVE recently changed.
You will need to take the licensing course that is approved by the NY State Insurance Dept. This course is available at many community colleges either evenings spread over a year, or if you are in a hurry, some private schools offer a 3 week crash course. Good luck.
