Pregnant with no insurance?

I recently moved and I no longer have health insurance. I am 33 weeks pregnant. I do not qualify for Medicaid. are there any other inexpensive options? I am currently working part time but I won't be working for much longer.

Answers:
you can try AIM which is a goverment program.

You say that you recently moved... Were you on a group plan that was eligible for COBRA before?

Even if you didn't take COBRA, you can still get coverage (under Federal law) through any company as long as you do so within 63 days of the end of your previous policy.

However, you would automatically be brought in at the highest rates available for your age/gender. That's standard underwriting for anyone who comes into a plan pregnant, regardless of any other factors.

If you weren't on a group plan before (or you've waited longer than the 63 day period specified by Federal law), you'll be lucky to find anyone who will take you, period. And even if you do, they will NOT cover your pregnancy. Even so, it may still be worthwhile to get the coverage, because the costs associated with the pregnancy and birth would not be covered, but the baby would be automatically eligible for coverage after the birth (in case there were any complications.)

You can find more details about the COBRA laws on the Dept. of Labor web site: http://www.dol.gov/dol/topic/health-plan...
I have a friend, Lisa, who was in the same situation that you are in.

Her insurance was canceled and she could not get another insurance because of the 'Pre-existing Condition'.

She signed up with the following Health Benefits Plan and was accepted immediately. Two days later Lisa was admitted to the hospital and the baby came 2 weeks early, and the baby girl needed intensive care. Thank God she had got the Medical plan in the nick of time.

You can sign up on line and get your ID number immediately.

Cost? $59.95 a month only!! Satisfaction guaranteed.

This is a very good answer. Have many friends who use this plan! One friend saved about $18,000 on a $20,000 bill.. maybe more discounts to come! It even gives free Dental, vision and more.
2 thumbs up!

Check with your state Children's Health Insurance Plan. They have MUCH more lenient income guidelines, and cover perinatal and delivery.

They WON'T cover anything NOT pregnancy related for YOU, however, they'll cover the labor & delivery charges, and the baby charges.
