National Professional Insurance Organization?
Answer:
Not really. The insurance business is segmented, so life companies have no overlapping interests with property and casualty companies or reinsurers. Additionally, insurance is not federally regulated, so there is no need to form a national association to present a united front to regulators. Finally, there are stock and mutual insurance companies, which have different regulatory agendas.
Anyhow, here are some links you can check out:

Depends what type of insurance you are talking about and what you need to do--report a fraud, check on a companies legitimacy, or find out if a company is supposed to offer its subscribers specific coverge. There are multiple organizations that govern different types of insurance companies. Medical insurance companies can be governed by state and federal mandates or by only the federal depending on what type of insurance it is, so its difficult to advise you based on the limited info you have provided here. An insurance agent is not an insurance company. So my suggestion is to consult your local phone book for the insurance commissioner or bureau of insurance for your state--usually listed under the name of the state.
At the federal level, there are organizations that insurance companies can belong to but, again, which agency depends on which type of insurance. Hope this helps.
Sure, the NAIC. Then there are the AGENTS groups, www.iiaa.org is the biggest web site. There are more agent groups than corporate groups, as the groups for corporation always have a financial goal.
Oh, unless you aren't in the US. Then I have no clue.
