If you can't afford insurance, you may qualify for Medicaid (US resident) or Medicare (65 or older). Another good option is a prescription discount card (Caremark has one), especially if your med is a brand drug and you can't tolerate a generic. Also, if you are taking a particular med, you may contact the manufacturer and they may have a program for you where you get that med for free or at a discount. Also, ask your doctor for free samples.

What you CAN do, is print out the list of over 400 generic meds that Target and Walmart offer, at $4 for a one month's supply, take that list to your doctor, and ask them to find something on the list that will do the job.
