Where can I get insurance for my laptop?

The poster above 'Kumar' is getting on my nerves with his self serving marketing - he is US based so no link he gives you is appropriate.
I cannot see any reason why your home contents insurer would not cover this as an extension to the policy.
You can add what is called 'Unspecified all risks' or 'Unspecified personal possessions' cover to the policy.
Depending on how much the Laptop is worth - you could add around £2000/£3000 unspecified cover (which will be the maximum amount you could claim any one event) this would cover laptop & other possessions in the event of loss or damage OUTSIDE the home.
Be aware that this section of the policy will be subject to a 'Single Article Limit' e.g. £1,000 or £1,500 - so if your laptop is over the 'Single Article Limit' on the policy you will need to add it as a 'Specfied Item' rather than rely on the unspecified cover.
It should be quite simple for them to cover!
If you run into any difficulty I can help you -
www.gothicinsurance.com
but as i said - your current insurer should be able to do it.
Try Lojack.com
Where you bought it, normally its comes with the laptop
If you bought it at best buy or a big store like that you can go back and purchase it. I would definitely recommend it even if it is a couple hundred dollars.
You should be able to get insurance from the company that made it.
have you tried home contents insurance

How about an Insurance company? Or am I being simplistic?
Through your house contents. Don't list it as a single item or they with punish you.
try getting inc form a strip joint under "if-i-snap-my-back"! hahaha
O you said lapTOP <geez>
Try coverage under your home owner's or renter's insurance policy. Be sure to make see if it's covered while travelling away from home. Otherwise, that insurance carrier will probably be able to offer you a policy on your laptop. If you don't have an insurance carrier, you can easily find one in the yellow pages. I will suggest the use of an agent rather than direct insurance purchase.
state farm will write a personal articles floater for the laptop
u can get the insurance of any type easily...
You can cover this on your home owners policy with a special endorsement. And yes it would be covered anywhere in the world -- in fact, all of your personal property is covered anywhere in the world.
Add it to your home insurance as an All Risks items - provided it's not owned by, or used in connection with your business. Otherwise it'll need to be added on to the business package insurance.
