Anyone know how to locate a caregiver for a bone marrow transplant patient at the UMC?

In order to receive the transplant, University of AZ Med center requires that the patient have a 24 hour caregiver. Please direct me to where I can find out if AZ state insurance would cover the cost of a caregiver 24 hours a day. The patient can't work any more. If insurance doesn't pay, what's the most economical way to find a caregiver for several months? Any suggestions how I could find a student this summer that's possibly studying to be a nurse?

Answers:
Most private insurance policies will not pay for a caregiver. AHCCCS may pay a portion if you qualify financially.

Here is a caregiver link http://www.arizonacaregivers.org/... that you can call for information. They would be the best place to start looking.

Here is the link http://www.nursing.arizona.edu/... to the college of nursing. They might know of nursing students looking for employment.

The Pima Council on Aging http://www.pcoa.org/ also has a caregiver program for seniors. Even if the patient is not a senior they might be able to direct you to help through some of the faith-based volunteer organizations.

I hope this helps.
idk
The HOSPITAL will have a list of "sitters", and if the doctor says it's required, the insurance will most likely pay - but check with them first!!
