Child support isn't "designated" to cover anything in particular.
In MY experience, having to rent a two bedroom apartment, instead of one, paying extra utilities & food, and most importantly, the health insurance, copays, food, prescriptions, school fees, etc, child support never came CLOSE to paying even HALF the extra expenses of raising the child. Health insurance and health care costs ate up most of mine, and when my guy was in daycare full time, well, OUCH!!

You should know(and I hope he is aware) that he can rescind (this means take-away) consent for your license in some states, thus negating (also means take away) any need for insurance. I know that if it is not included in the divorce decree, he does not have to pay it. But he would be a great parent if he would willingly pay for it. It will make a more loving impact between you and him, right? A loving parent does not need for things to be in writing for him to give them to you.
