What is the best company to purchase a workman's comp policy from?
Answers:
This depends on what business you are in. This also depends on experience. You should look for a company through your agent who writes your liability.
If you want Workers comp only then their a few "good" companies that can do Mono-comp depending on where you are residing.
AMTRUST GRP and AMCOMP are a couple names to kick around.
Again, it all depends. Call an agent.
Sheila, it's not about BEST, it's about WHO'S WILLING. Whichever agent writes your liability policy should be writing your comp.
Agents don't LIKE to write stand alone comp. *I* don't write stand alone comp, without a brokers fee attached. And it's a hefty brokers fee.
If you don't have comp already, you're new, Texas Mutual is probably where you're going to end up. If you have workers comp, but have an unfavorable loss ratio (over 60%), you're going to end up in Texas Mutual.
So the short answer is, anyone who will take you. Which won't be very many companies. But start with your GL carrier.
