Home insurance-closing on house next Wednesday!?

Help! We will be closing on our house next week and for some reason I forgot I'll need to get home insurance. I have no idea where to begin to look for a good policy at a good price. I don't know how much residence coverage or personal liability coverage to get. Any suggestions?

Answers:
Call a local agent, they'll walk you through it. Go to the yellow pages. Start with the guy that writes your car insurance. Ask your realtor for a referral, if you need to.
I would call a reputable insurance company in your area. If you have vehicle insurance, I would call that agent to see if they can write your home. They should have a system on their computer that will allow them to get a replacement cost value for your house based on square footage, etc. That should give you a starting point anyway.

Check with your car ins. co. You may get a discount on both your car and house. I'd recommend though for a escrow closing that you get a company with agents since they can produce the needed paperwork for closing right away where companies without cannot.
