Sheilas wheels?
Answer:
Yes, I don't know how they get away with it. I suppose men are more mature, and go with the flow. The advert is crap, and if it was just for men the' wimmin' would be getting their knickers in a twist.
Its also a rip off!
agree on both counts
never mind the feminists though, if i hear that bloody song on telly again i'll throw a brick at it.
IIts not about women
ts an insurance company
And does not give a stuff about anyone except the stockholders
yessssssssssssss on both accounts bloody annoying ad arghhhhhhhhhhhhh
It's not sexist. Women are, statistically, better drivers so they should get a cheaper deal.
Apart from my girlfriend, that is. She's sh*t.
your so right! why has nobody else realised this?? have you not had the altrnative MALE version of the tune on your phone yet? ask friends to see if they had it if not i'll try and post a link somewhere for you to pick up! IT'S CLASS
"if ya wanna leave the car alive. never let a woman drive".. hum the chorus and you'll know where that line goes LOL
It may be sexist but it is not illegal to do this. I am 26 but would like to go on saga holidays but as it is I am stuck with club 18-30! That's ageism - why can't I go on a pensioner's tour?
For ladies who insure their cars and have lots and lots of cash cos it costs a fortune to insure with them. It is the most irritating advert I've every seen, but it works cos everyone knows who they are.
Actually it is the other way round - it's just for the ladies. The funny thing is it's not even cheaper in most cases - just a marketing ploy.
It doesn't offer insurance for women only, but also men. It, however, targets women.
I quote-
"If you’re a man, don’t take offense, you can still get a quote with us and we’ll welcome you but we do believe that womens’ better record on convictions and claims costs should allow them to get a cheaper women’s car insurance quote. That’s one of our aims!"
Are you interested in tampons by any chance because i will sell it to you, but you are unlikely to buy it
Yep good point but dont worry its too bloody expensive so doubt if many women would use it.
They only offer insurance to Women and not men.
Women complain about anything. Its in their nature to act this way. I don't know any women that has ever been satisfied with what a man has done for her.
Women are statistically involved in less major accidents and do less mileage than men, thats why their insurance is cheaper.
However, they are the ones that make men cause accidents by driving at 15 mph on a 30 mph road and making male drivers overtake them.
Who cares, their adverts are so annoying that it makes me want to kick the tv over and set fire to it.
I agree that the advert is annoying. However it is not sexist, merely profitable: they look at the statistics of road crashes and find that less women crash than men, so therefore providing insurance only to women would lower the number of claims, meaning they get to keep more money! This is also the reason for all of those "only drivers over the age of 21" or "with 3 years no claim" - they are trying to target people that are statistically less likely to crash; an insurance company that promised to give insurance to male drivers age 17-20 and male/female drivers age 80+ who have claimed twice in the past year is doomed to fail.
morally its sexist
ethically its sexist
however its legal
but then it underpins whats wrong with the whole racism / sexism / 'ism industry. loss statistics indicates that women drivers are a better insurance risk (ie they cost the insurers less than male drivers), so by specialising in this sector they should be able to provide insurance to a specified risk group at a lower cost.
however the whole principle contravenes the discrimination diktat created over the last 30..40 years, that there is instituional 'ism adveresly affecting minorities. In this case the the discrimination is seen as beneficial to the minority so its permissable (in fact even legal (I think there was an EU case which authorised this discrimination))
I agree that feminists would go nuts, men just aren't that bothered about sexism because they're just more light-hearted really.
I don't think it's really that sexist, if it's a fact that women are less likely to crash a car, why not benefit women?
Thing is all insurance companies take your information (gender, age, history etc) and calculate your likelihood to claim, a woman will always get a lower quote than a man anyway, as would a 32-year-old over a 19-year-old.
There's nothing wrong with a company showing this and allowing people to realise the benefits they could gain through their qualities/attributes.
Did you just ask this question last week? Didn't someone point out that they DO sell insurance to men??
Look at it this way, it's just like "Miss Black America". You can't have a "Miss White America", can you.
Its an awful bluddy advert and reading in other answers that they are expensive WHY oh WHY havent they gone broke yet.
If i was female i'd hear the add once and my first thought would be thats an oz company (cos of the song) what're they selling over here for?
My second thought would be its a con I dont trust any one who calls ladies sheelaghs. I'll avoid them.
So Ladies PLEASE PLEASE dont even phone them and hopefully they will curl up and die from lack of attention.
