How does one find out if there is Mortgage Life Insurance on a house?

My aunt's husband just died, however my aunt cannot find any of his documents. She knows her husband purchased mortgage life insurance on the house, however she does not know the company he purchased the insurance from. How does she go about finding out the company holding her late husband's mortgage life insurance policy?

Call the mortgage company which has a lien on the house. The mortgage life insurance company should have them listed as a loss payee.

She can do a title search on the house if she does not know who the mortgage holder is.
She needs to ask 1. the mortgage company and 2. go through all his old cancelled checks to see what company he's been paying.

Mortgage life, you have to pay every year. If you stop paying, it cancels.
