Can an uninsured motorist receive damages for a road construction companys negligence?

Six other cars were towed away with oil pans broke or shattered. I slammed hard into the steering wheel. Got the wind knocked out. Started feeling pinch between shoulder blades. Next day, necks stiff. Cars towed. I paid. Found out its constr. co.s fault. Waiting for their adjuster to contact me now. City risk mgt. guy next day, gives me a rental car. He knows I had no insur. My cars totalled. Just bought it but hadnt got insur. yet.

Answer:
well, it depends on what happened - regarding "construction co's fault". That's usually an opinion.

But for the record, the status of YOUR insurance is not relevant if someone else is at fault for an accident. So if they assume 100% liability, it doesn't matter if you have insurance or not.

I assume you paid cash for your car - which is good, because they only have to pay you actual cash value. If you had borrowed money, they would NOT be paying off the loan.
I think they are liable. Since there are so many people involved they may offer a settlement. If they don't offer anything, you may have to take them to court. You should probably contact an attorney. If you have a good case an attorney will probably take it without charging you. He would get a percentage of what you get for his fee. Couldn't hurt to make a few calls and see.
i think you're boned.

if you are not insured, you had no business even being there.

i hope i'm wrong.
Your lack of insurance doesn't preclude the company's liability.

You must have paid cash for the vehicle, because if you had a loan against it, the loss payee (bank, credit union, acceptance corporation) would have required insurance - if you did have a loan, check with them, I'll guarantee that they bought insurance in your name, maybe even tacked it on to your payment.
That depends on the state laws in your area. Most states do not have a law that prevents you from recovery but some do. Louisiana is the only state I can think of off the top of my head that has a a law that states if you have no insurance on your vehicle then there is no recovery for yours, if damages are under I believe 10k. Check your state statutes
