Starting car hire business insurance required or can private personal policeys be used ?
Answer:
Read your policy - it will say something under exclusions like, "no coverage while carrying others for a fee" or sometimes "no coverage while being used for business purposes" which CAN include pizza delivery.
You need a public vehicle policy, but it's VERY expensive - expect just the liability to cost you $5,000 a year.
read your policy not for hire or reward you will have to take out a hire policy cost a bit
read your policy-most private policies will not respond if vehicle is used "for hire" and state so in the policy itself
You will need insurance, the private individuals who hire from you, their insurance will not cover the rental. If it is companies that you hire to, you will find most of them will have their own motor insurance, you will still have to pay a small amount of insurance for this as well, but not nearly as high as a private individual.
I would shop around for insurance companies who cater for the hire trade, go to the BVRLA ( British Vehicle Rental, Leasing Association that is, if you live in the UK!), they may be able to assist you.
ok, some small business can be handled with a rider on your perosnal insurnce.
But you need to sit down with your insurnace agent and review all the polices and see what is needed.
