Why dont Insurance Companies provide cover to Housewives?

I am a housewife myself. I also used to work for an Insurace Company.

Answers:
You didn't specify what TYPE of coverage you are talking about.

Disability insurance is the only type of coverage I can think of that most companies exclude housewives. There are a few out there that will do it with the husband, though. Check Illinois Mutual and Lloyds. Most life insurers, for instance, will insure a housewife dollar-for-dollar for the same amount as the working spouse up to $1m.

I'm unimpressed by what any ONE company thinks because there are so many good ones to choose from.
You can purchase any kind of insurance you want. It's expensive and you don't have an employer helping offset the cost with a collective group rate, but you can get it. The husband can provide coverage through his own insurance as well.
You can get insurance, but it will cost you an arm and a leg. People who work get the lower price because it's through the company (some kind of discount perhaps?).
insurance company provide cover to housewifes but to a certain limit like not more then 1.5 lakh... if husaband having cover more than 5 lakh then only we can consider for more life cover
One more reason for money hungry husbands and in laws to attack you. Actually, initially it happened, that many unscrupulous elements insured their illiterate wives and killed for insurance money.Since then rules are very rigid to insure a woman. She should be educated and preferably employed and so on.
There are some relaxations but all women must be careful and don't over insure.
It is not that . insurance companies provide cover to house wifes who have a personal source of income such as a job or a business of there own .as according to the past experience of indian insurance the cover given on life to house wifes was enjoyed by there husbands by murdering them and getting the claim as accidental death.
Insurance is basically income protection for the beneficiaries of the insured.

Housewives don't generate their own income. Hence, housewives are under the category of unemployed. In case of death, there won't be any financial lost on the part of the beneficiaries since the housewife is not an income earner. In this case, there isn't any need for housewives to get income protection or insurance coverage.
