Can my employer force me to take my husbands health insurance if his is inferior to mine?
Answer:
ABSOLUTELY NOT.. YOU decide what YOU want on all aspects of your insurance ! Don't be bullied. even mentioning to a bully employer, that the attorney general would like to hear about this will stop most in their tracks!
nope.
NO!!
NO they cant
NO
I don't get that. I was double covered for 9 years. The insurance company would take mine first, then my significant others would pick up any slack for dental. For medical I used his HMO because it was more convenient.
call your attorney general that will put an end to that crap real fast
of course not. Your health insurance options are based on what the company offers everyone and has nothing to do with what coverages your spouse may have. It will be spelled out in your company's personnel policies as to what you're entitiled to, but they won't even be able to know what your husband's insurance is. That's private and personal information.
Insurance is a perk not a legally required benefit. Your employer can't "force" you to do anything, but they can refuse to allow you health insurance through them if their policy is to refuse health insurance to all employees who are eligible for it under their spouse's plan.
This is becoming a very common way to cut health insurance costs.
No, they can't force you.
