need to file claim but can not find who bought out this company

Answer:
Contact you State Insurance Commissioners Office. Located in most State capitals.
You should call your state department of insurance or visit their website.I am pretty sure they would be able to tell you
Try the NAIC, National Association of Insurance Commissioners
you can look it up on www.ambest.com
Each state has a trade association and those trade associations have large books with successor companies of those that were bought out.
If you call your state's trade association, they'll find the name of the successor company.
the insurance commissioner of the state of which it was purchased.
