How can we get our money back on our holiday?
My partner is self-employed so not only do we have to find the spending money to go away with, he also loses out on a weeks wages (and then having to still pay the mortgage).
What can we do to get out of going on the holiday and getting some, possibly all, of our money back.
What sort of "illness" could the doctor say we had that would hold up with us not being able to travel.
Answer:
I would think even with your Insurance it is going to be very difficult to get your money back... why dont you try and sell the holiday - friend family through the local paper I know people do it on ebay - obviously tickets would have to be amended to new people but at least you will guarentee some money instead of losing all the money you have paid for your holiday... making up illnesses just isnt worth it
What are the booking conditions? Did you get travel insurance? Even if you get a doctors note (for say ear infection) the agents might not give it if you waved the insurance option or their policy states it. Check all the paperwork.
Good luck.
If not can you sell the tickets, change the date,.?
Careful. defrauding insurance is a serious offence. However you could simply consider the lawful option of accepting that your house is more important than a holiday (or the prospect of a massive fine for fraud) and stay home, saving your spending money and allowing your partner to work. Again, the warning re insurance is only if you have taken out holiday insurance - if you have not, then 'illness' or not, you won't be getting anything back unless your tour operator allows you to cancel with whatever notice you ar able to give and get a refund.
it's difficult
