What sort of items will make money on ebay?

Im selling stuff on ebay to make a little extra cash, ive only just started and selling but only make a couple of pounds here and there. I only have a auction account and cannot afford much. At the moment im just selling unwanted items from my home, such as, clothing, phones, toys, accessories, bedding, orniments, and more. What sort of items do you think would sell better and make a little more money for me? i dont have money to invested in buying stock from people either. Hope you can help, thanks.

You can research how items sell using their eBay Marketplace Research service http://pages.ebay.com/marketplace_resear.

For August, this report provides the hottest items to sell on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/hoti.

eBay has several ways for you to determine exactly what the hot items to sell on their marketplace:

Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sell.

Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/what. and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left.

eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action.

Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/cale. to view the current Merchandising Calendar.

You have to find items cheap enough for you to buy to make a profit on eBay. That's not an easy task and the competition is tough now. Check flea markets, thrift stores, garage sales and auctions but don't get your hopes up on making a lot. eBay is a buyer's market.
hi, i am an avid ebayer (user id: vsolosky). Baby clothes seem to do really well, especially if they are brand name (ie: Tommy Hilfiger, TCP, Gap, Old Navy, Etc) the best thing to do is to go shopping at the stores that sell those types of clothing when they are on clearance at the end of the season (for example, Summer Clothes). You can get them really cheap and then list them as a "lot" of "NWT" (new with tags) auction shortly before the season begins (end of spring/very beginning of Summer). Good luck!
are you trying to be smart? :)))

The best way to make money on Ebay is the hard way. Take a subject you know a lot about, for instance maybe you love classic video games. Go to garage sales, estate sales, swap meets, whatever and look for games that people are selling for below market value. Buy them and resell them. If making a buck on Ebay were easy, nobody would work a real job anymore. Good luck.
Gameboy advance consoles and games(very sellable)very old magazines, toys, and playstation games too.
Just what you have is fine see how it goes,
try car boot sales to buy cheap stock ,and check out ads people offering car boot stuff for sale £10 a box and try selling them, at the end of the day you could try car boots sales too to sell.
I did car boots sales with a stall and i did airbrush tattoos i was going out on sunday only and making £100 .
Jumble sales and buying cheap books or dvds.
even if you make 50p it all adds up.
Tried the wife, they kept wanting a refund!
Items that people want to buy.
a used teabag once sold for £50. there wans't anything special about it either.

check out some of the weird stuff on ebay - most of it is the kind of thing we might normally chuck or give to charity - you may as well post it on ebay instead - if you don't sell it you don't have to re-list.

milk 2 sugars please...
DVDs sell well.
PS2 games .
Clothes ( particulally brandnames.)
Computer parts.
My husband has found that motorbike parts sell really well too.
I used to work on eBay full time, now I'm finding it less and less worthwhile. The visibility of your listings are going down, whilst the fees are going up. Their customer service is rubbish and they charge sometimes more than a bricks and mortar shop would.

Remember if you're earning £5 or £500, you need to declare this as the penalties can be quite high.

As for good profit items- nobody is going to tell you their wholesaler or supplier. Obviously designer clothes, mobiles, new-out games, popular consoles etc are going to be popular. However, people only want to pay rock-bottom prices, usually.
