My guess is that it's someone trying to "phish" you - don't provide any information to anyone unless you get served papers.

Many pretend that you have old debt that they've purchased that's been written off long ago - after 7 years they try to get you to pay something on it, and then the debt becomes fresh - if you don't acknowledge it after 7 years, they can't go after you.
